Basic Statistics

Name: Drake Kingson
Nickname: Sometimes his buddies call him "Bull-boy," which Drake hates (he's quick to point out he has no bovine in his family).
Age: 17
Sex: Male
Nationality: American
Socioeconomic level: Middle-class
Birth date: April 18
Birth place: A... hospital in the suburbs.
Describe their dwelling/house: Your typical 2-bedroom house, clean and well-kept.  Has an air of "keeping up with the Joneses."
Occupation: Student at the all-boy private school.  Is also the star pitcher of the baseball team and quarterback of the football team.
Hobbies/Pastimes: sports of all types, paint-ball, practicing at the shooting range, reading mysteries, playing video games.
Talents/Skills: Very talented at sports, particularly aim/throwing sports like baseball and football.  When he concentrates, he can be rather detail-minded, which helps him solve his mystery stories.  Pretty good shot with a gun, too.
Family: Father Montgomery, the local chief of police, and possibly more headstrong than his son.  Mother Honora, an overweight and quiet housewife, a very nagging-type mother and soccer mom.

Past History

Hometown: The suburbs of the big city (which city? Doesn't really matter. :) )
Describe their childhood: Relatively normal, though his father was a rather strict disciplinarian.  The punishment of choice began with spankings, graduated to the belt, and in Drake's teenage years, got rather out of hand with law enforcement equipment like billy clubs and tasers.
Backstory: As far back as he can remember, Drake has always wanted to follow in his father's law enforcement footsteps.  He idolizes his father, despite the fact that Montgomery has a tendency to be over-abusive in his punishments.  (Drake figures, don't break the law and you don't get punished.)  He's learned many police techniques from a very young age from his father and the other guys on the force, and practices them often.  Since very young, Drake's had the "upstanding citizen" mindset emphasized by his dad, and has tirelessly worked towards reaching his father's high standards.

Of course, he's still your typical teenage boy, and Drake occasionally indulges a more reckless streak: drinking with his friends, sleeping around with various girls, getting involved in various things that would drive his father insane.  Unlike his talents in anything law-related, Drake's rather horrible at breaking the law and doing it secretly, so his father tends to discover some of these reckless acts.  It is not uncommon for the police to be called to the Kingson household to break up Montgomery's punishments-gone-overboard.  Drake usually goes to school the next day with bruises/black eyes/the occasional broken bone, and he behaves himself for another few months.

Also, Drake really wants to become a homicide detective.  This surprisingly causes a rift between him and his father, who'd rather he worked his way up the ladder in the normal police officer role (his father wants Drake to take over as chief of police).  To all Drake's friends, this is splitting hairs: detective or police officer, it seems all the same to them.  To Drake and his father, this is like the difference between a farmer and a chef.

Physical Characteristics

Height: 5'6"
Posture: Straight, and almost militaristic.
Build: quite strong, sturdy build
Race/Species: canine on his father's side, a mix of ram/sheep/bison on his mother's side.  Race is a typical Caucasian mix: British, German, French, Irish, a little Native American.
Hair: Brown. Hair and fur slightly wooly, due to the sheep on his mother's side.
Eyes: Brown.
Expressions: Always wearing a confident expression, that can often turn into a smirk.
Hands: Four fingers.
Tattoos/Scars? None.
Virgin? Nope.
Distinguishing features: A pair of ram-like horns.  No nose. :3
How does s/he dress: Rarely seen without his letterman's jacket.  Wears dark, tightly fit t-shirts tucked into his jeans.  Wears a garrison belt properly aligned to his jeans seams (a la uniform policies).
Jewelry: Occasionally wears his class ring.
Other accessories:  None.
Weapons: Off campus he carries a .45 Smith & Wesson (standard issue for the local police force), and has a concealed weapons permit.
Habits (smoking, drinking, obsessive compulsive disorders): The occasional beer with buddies.  Has an average quantity of dirty magazines (prefers chicks with uniforms and/or guns.)
Health: Good.
Speech Patterns: Straight talker, with typical teenage grammar.
Voice: Very strong voice, good alto singer.  Can put on his rather authoritative "cop voice."
Style (Elegant, shabby, etc): Sharp and simple.
Physical Flaws: Though still relatively strong, Drake's athletic talents are more deficient in speed/agility activities.  So, though he can still make the team, he's never the star on the soccer field or basketball court.
Physical Qualities: Extremely thick skull (literally) and sturdy vertebrae, thanks to the ram on his mother's side of the family.  None of the guys like to get head-butted by him when they roughhouse.

Intellectual/Mental/Personality Attributes and Attitudes

Intelligence Level: Moderate, better in his history, english, and government classes than the maths and sciences.  In terms of school grades, he gets mostly B's, with a few A's and the occasional C.  He'd do better in school if, as his mother says, "he applied himself."
Character's long-term goals/desires in life: To become a homicide detective.
Character's short-term goals/desires in life: Make the team of whatever sport's in season, and help lead that sport to the top of the region.
How self-confident is the character? Excessively confident.
Is this character generally dominant or submissive? Dominant.
Does the character seem ruled by emotion or logic or some combination thereof? A combination. What guy would admit they're ruled by emotion?  He tries to be ruled by logic, but that doesn't stop him from getting emotionally involved.
Most at ease when: in control of his surroundings and the people in it/when he's being the leader.
Ill at ease when: he's in public and unarmed. XD  Also, when faced with adversity without backup (his buddies).
Describe their sense of humor: Good sense of humor, always cracking jokes with his friends and poking fun at the teachers.  Sometimes his jokes can become off-color or mean-spirited, especially when left unchecked by authority figures.
Character/Personality/Mental/Social Strengths: Has natural leader tendencies, which people seem to often respond positively to.  Confident, with a strong sense of morals and justice.  Is quick to defend his friends and sometimes the defenseless.  Usually quite amiable and good humored.  His moderate obsession with upholding the law seems to indicate in the future he'll develop into the obsessive type, unable to tolerate any criminal activity.
Character/Personality/Mental/Social Flaws: He's aware of his sense of justice, which can easily turn into pride, overconfidence, and a 'holier-than-thou' attitude.  Has a tendency to be very stubborn.  His strong personality leads him to have a snarkie or defiant attitude towards some of the teachers.  His tendency to joke people can sometimes go overboard and hurt their feelings.
Biggest Vulnerability (non physical): Has a deep-seated need for approval from his father and other authority figures he respects (like his coach).  In other words, he's the 'military general' type: a leader who needs at least one figure of authority above him.
Optimist or Pessimist: Optimist.
Introvert or extrovert: Extrovert.
Greatest Fear: That his father will be disappointed with him/that he won't live up to his father's expectations.
Other Fears/Insecurities/Phobias: Fears physical disability, though that doesn't mean he fears getting into fights.  Like most teenage boys, he needs the approval of his friends/teammates.
Peculiarities: None of note.
Secret desires: Occasionally entertains the thought of putting his own father behind bars for some of his father's indiscretions.  Also would love to be able to solve a string of serial killings that have happened around town.
Character's darkest secret: He once stole something from the evidence closet at the police precinct.

Relationships with others

Relationship Skills: He loves the ladies, but he's not very good at talking to them.  He just isn't very romantic, poetic, or charming, so only his athleticism contributes to his finding a girl.
Loves: His parents, his girlfriend Shauna.
Lusts: The pretty girls, especially the ones with the big hips.  Has the hots for Sammy, though he'd rather not admit it.  (ultimate turn-on: scantily clad, dark-skinned women with big hips, armed to the teeth with all manner of firearm.)
Crushes: None.
Lover(s): His girlfriend Shauna (who his father disapproves of, incidentally).  The occasional girl behind Shauna's back.
Best Friends: Tom Calfman, a brutishly large jock and trailer trash.  Francis "Frogboy" O'Reilley, a lanky, froglike jock from Ireland.
Friends: The other guys/jocks on the sports teams.  Some of the officers at his father's precinct.
Hates: The goth kids: Rantz, Owen, and Cedric.  Ronnie, a greaser and Sammy's boyfriend.
Admires: His father.  His coach, Jonathan Lee.  The ROTC teacher, Miles Von Schonn.
Dislikes: The English teacher, Edmund Lockwood.  Preppy pretty-boy Dimitri Kraus.  Rich-girl and prima dona Sammy Fontaine.  The girly science teacher, Tierlynn Faustus.
Rivals:  Sammy Fontaine, because even though he thinks she's hot, they have equally stubborn personalities.   Edmund Lockwood, since they lock horns so often (almost literally).
Sexuality: Straight.
What kind of person would s/he consider to be the perfect mate?Drake thinks he likes the feisty and dangerous girls, someone he could "conquer."  Though, in reality, he'll most likely wind up with a sweet, quiet girl, wholesome and who doesn't cause trouble.
What type of people does s/he like or associate with? Strong/athletic individuals, people on the police force or military.
What type of people doesn't s/he like or associate with? Nerds, bullies, wimpy people, people who engage in illegal/criminal acts.

Likes/Dislikes

Likes: Reading/solving/writing mystery stories.  Baseball, football, wrestling, basketball, and soccer (in that order).  Practicing at the firing range.  Anything law-enforcement related.  Rock and metal music.
Dislikes: Coming in second place in sports, even to his best friends.  Math and science, and most schoolwork.
Greater Pleasures: Taking down the "bad guy."
Motto/Personal quote: "Protect and Serve" (the police motto)
Mode of transportation: His dad's old car.  (...of some sort.  I fail at car models/makes.)
Most prized possession: His .45 Smith & Wesson that he's named "Gloria."
Why?  How else would you be able to protect yourself or others against the bad guys?

Emotional Characteristics

Describe character's sense of morals: Haha.  Very strong, and very legal-minded.  Is of the belief that the law is the ultimate and final word.  However, Drake's not completely unshakable in his morals, and can lapse into bullying or breaking some of his precious laws.  Of course, he'd never admit he's a bit of a hypocrite.
Describe character's etiquette: Not the greatest table manners or etiquette in his day-to-day life, but he knows enough to fake it during those important political dinners when he has to play "son of the police chief."
How does the character view life? Drake never bothers with such existential thoughts as the meaning of life.  Life's what you live, and you've got to have a purpose in your life, the thing that drives you.

Spiritual Characteristics

Religion: Drake thinks his folks might be Christian of some sort, so he figures that's what he qualifies as too.
Is religion or spirituality a part of this character's life? Nope, not much at all.
If so, what role does it play? His family goes to church on Easter and on Christmas.  Other than that, nothing else.

Anything Else?

Being the police chief's son allows Drake access to all areas of the police precinct, something very uncommon for your average person.  He knows all the officers on a first name basis, and has a surprising amount of access on police files.  He keeps his own copies of the recent serial killings, and looks over them in his spare time.  At one point he wrote a mystery story about the serial killings in his English class as an assignment, and it was entered in a local writing contest and won.  The serial killer is now aware of Drake, and has made some devious plans.
I use him in pictures often enough, I might as well upload his bio too. :D

It's so easy to make a character a 'jock' and then leave it at that; the typical dull-witted sports brute who bullies the protagonist. I think you can make a character the pro sports guy, and even give him the typical star-football-player pride and confidence, but still add more to him than that. 'Course, it helps if you made the character first, and THEN decided to turn him into a jock later. :3 His two jock buddies (who belong to =fyuvix) also have more depth than your usual dumb jock lackeys. Makes it more fun that way.

Also, there's more to a cop character than either perfect-cop or crooked-cop. *nods*

And even though I use him often enough as an avatar and in my pics, I don't really have that much in common with Drake. ^__^;
