Whew! This little fella took about 9 hours to do, though that includes gutting the thing and scraping down the insides because they were some crazy 3" thick. It was a pretty big pumpkin to start, about 18" tall and 12" in diameter. It doesn't have a lid anymore; it's carved all the way around.
The gargoyle part's been skinned so he's lighter than his surrounding buildings, and the flesh dug-into to give him some shading (which was really hard to capture in photo). I think I probably should've taken a bit more time on his body, because it's not as detailed as, say, his face. Still, I like the final result.
Wowee Zowee! This is amazing! It must be incredible to see in person, but the photo is really terrific. I think this is my favorite of all the ones I've seen this year.
